  • Beach Wedding Dresses- The Do’s And Dont’s

Most destination weddings take place in a beautiful beach setting. While you may be used to walking a beach in bare feet and bathing suits, when it comes to your wedding dress, you need to plan your gown around your sandy, and possibly wet and windy setting.

Picking the Perfect Beach Wedding Gown
Yes, a beach is a beautiful place to get married at. And it will go perfectly when you plan accordingly, especially with your wedding dress. Everything is a factor here, from the material to the veil.

    - When having your ceremony on a beach, the best way to go is a light, flowy wedding dress. The idea is to pick something that will work with a sandy outdoor setting. When walking down a sandy aisle, you want to make sure you are able to move down it easily, without having a long train or your dress blowing up and away in the wind. Also, heavy beading weighs a dress down into the sand and is more of a stiff look in a beach setting.

    - If your beach ceremony is more casual and less traditional, a short wedding dress is also an option. Short dresses are great for beach weddings; no worry over caked up sand or being too hot.

    - Another factor in your dress decision is the material. Lace is a material that easily gets things stuck to it, especially beach debris. The ideal beach gown material will be lightweight, like chiffon, so the gown flows with the wind, and doesn't get dirty easily.

    - Even the veil is important. If a wedding veil is central in your vision, make sure it’s a shorter veil. A big veil will become a big problem if it’s windy, and you want to have pictures as perfect as can be, instead of fabric covering your face and dislodging your hair.

    Picking the Perfect Shoes
When marrying on a beach, do yourself a favor and do not wear a heel. Even with some kind of material over the sand for your aisle, the ground is still uneven. Sand and heels just aren’t meant to be. But there's other cute shoes for you to fall in love with!

    - Flat sandals normally will not sink into sand. They’re easy to navigate in, and will give your feet breathing room in the warm temperatures.

    - Make sure if you have a longer wedding gown that it is hemmed to work with your shoes.

    - If your ceremony is a less casual beach ceremony, you could even opt for no shoes. Bare feet add to the atmosphere of your wedding, and is the easiest way to move in sand.

Whether you go with a short gown or long gown, sandals or barefoot, plan accordingly and your beach wedding will run smoothly, and be the perfect memory for your guests and yourself!
