We all have an idea about the differences between a traditional ceremony and a beach ceremony. One of the big differences is the type of flowers used. Which flowers work best to make your beach ceremony pop? Let me share some advice with you, in this Beach Wedding, Installment 4!
You Guessed It- The Beach Itself:
What time is your beach wedding? Will it be when the sun is beating down on you, with not a cloud in the sky? Or will you have a night beach wedding, with the moon glowing over the ocean? Depending on the temperature and climate you're getting married in, try to pick a flower that will stay fresh all day, and that is okay under heavy sunlight, or in a cooler, darker climate.
What's Your Vision?:
Soft Beach Blend- If you want to match your beach ceremony and use lighter colors that blend together with the sand and sky, pick flowers that match that same way. Good flowers for that type of color scheme but still work well for a beach wedding are Calla Lilies, Poppies, Gerbera Daisies, and Gardenias.
Your Ceremony Is The Canvas, The Flowers The Paint- The other option is vivid color! You're on a beach, and you can go as tropical or as bright as you wish. Bright, colorful flowers can make your ceremony stand out. Some great choices for colorful, tropical-esque flowers are Orchids, Birds of Paradise, Gingers, Dahlias, Anthuriums, Stargazer Lilies, and Irises.
Other Things To Consider- Make sure that if there's even some slight wind on the beach that day (which is highly likely) to make sure any flower arch you use or flower decorations are anchored down in the sand or weighed down somehow, so as not to blow away.
Don't go overboard with the flowers. You wanted to get married on a beach, not a garden. You're trying to complement the natural beauty of the beach around you, not overshadow it.
Whether you pick tropical blooms, or soft pastel flowers, the right flowers can make the beach you're marrying on pop!
